As I sit here and write this post, I still can’t believe what is happening before my eyes. My youngest daughter, Kayla, is getting married. Where did the years go. It just seemed like yesterday we were taking her home from the hospital in North Carolina while I was serving in the Marine Corps. When she was only a couple weeks old I was transferred to Okinawa, Japan and since we wanted to save money, we drove our 1984 Nissan 200sx all the way across the county to Oregon where we had leave until I left. Needless to say with a two-week old baby girl the trip was filled with fun and adventure. Her sister, Natasha, was a trooper as well taking turns feeding and helping change diapers.
Now today she is all grown up, and became a beautiful young woman. She met Micah in Bend one day and after seeing here mom soon after told her she had met the man she was going to marry. All be damned if she wasn’t right! We finally met Micah early this year and it was like we’d known him forever. He fit right in with our family and friends who, if your not on your guard, can be very quick with the jokes and comebacks. He held his own and was immediately welcomed into the “club.”
This past summer we had the great pleasure of meeting Micah’s parents Clay and Michelle over in LaPine. They invited us over for a big family barbeque. Needless to say, within no time we were watching football, eating the best barbeque from Master Chef Clay, having a couple beers, then finishing the night off playing music and singing until almost 2:00a.m. and Tonya and Kayla were asleep with their eyes open
Since their engagement announcement Tonya has been on-the-go non-stop with phone calls with every vendor you can possibly think of. I can tell you it is going to be a beautiful wedding thanks to a lot of hard work from a lot of people. Who will be the wedding photographer you ask? She asked her daddy
Now, I’m going to have a second shooter of course because I have the other duty to walk my beautiful daughter down the isle and give her away to a man who loves her so much, and shows her that everyday.
While up in the mountains at a family ATV’ing event, we decided to shoot their engagement photos on her grandpa and grandma’s property due to the beautiful landscape. I still can’t believe it was my beautiful baby girl I was looking through my lens at…. I’m extremely happy for both of them.
