There is just something about this time of year that brings out the best in each and every one of us, and ways we can help other people. This year is no different. My wife Tonya and I have been blessed with a beautiful growing family and friends that would drop what they are doing and help you. What a wonderful feeling to have.
I was also blessed by being part of a project that involved several other professional photographers from around the world in helping raise money for a non-profit organization called Thirst Relief. They raise money for water purification filters to clean drinking water for those that are drinking out of mud puddles and contaminated rivers. No child should have to do that. The cost of each filter is $5.00 and it will provide one person with fresh drinking water for 50 years.
To help with this mission, the idea that was bounced around was, “Hey, can anybody hold a tune (or close to it) and be willing to (in a month) record a song by whatever means, and try to put together a Christmas Album where all the proceeds go to Thirst Relief? I’m not the best singer in the world by any means, but if it was ok enough to help raise money to save a child’s life I was in and so were others.
Thirty days to make an album when we are all over the world? Ha ha ha!!! But they were serious. The hard part you ask? We are all photographers and have other professions as well, and not paid professional singers or records producers. But that didn’t stop us. We don’t quit. With a bunch of us working, records, skyping, drop-boxing, emailing, chatting, and exchanging ideas I am proud to say we made it happen!
Today is the day the album was launched on iTunes and available for you to help us make a change this holiday season, and all for the price of a Venti Vanilla White Chocolate Mocha.
The album we have put together is called, “Showiteer’s Christmas – United for a Change.” (Showiteer’s is a nickname for a group of photographers that use Showitfast as our website company, which rock by the way!)
Click the link above to be taken to the website where you can read about our story, and see my funny looking “ugly sweater” photo! I ask that you click the Purchase button once there, and I guarantee you will not only enjoy knowing what you’ve done to help save a life, but will enjoy some new holiday music as well.
Thank you, Merry Christmas, and God Bless!
I can now check off my Bucket List….”Get a song listed on iTunes.”
