I would like to introduce a special young man…Christian.  Christian is one of those talented young men who I feel is going to take the world by storm.  Not only is he into music, but is an outstanding basketball player at Gresham High School.

One of Christian’s favorite recording artists is Chris Brown.  When I met him I could tell they had the same “vibe” and knew we had to shoot some edgy stuff, in an edgy place.  Portland was just the playground for that type of shoot.  In our minds I knew I had to bring in some big lights to bring out the clouds that were going to be out that day, as well as some other creative lighting.  Tonya and I packed up the gear and met Christian and family and friends downtown to further discuss some of the concepts we had in mind.  He was all for it.

Since he loves music, we brought some musical instruments along with us, as well as some other tricks we had.  Since he is an “Eastbay” magazine type and loves his Nike’s, we had to bring that element into the shoot as well.  We ended up in several different places with the finale along the waterfront where God decided to bless us with a great cracked sky.  In true Chris Brown style (and having friends in high-places) the car of his dreams, a Maserati, showed up and we finished the shoot with this beautiful piece of machinery!

We had a blast on this shoot and made some life-long friends during the process.  Christian and his family are very special people and we are glad to know them.

I would like you to meet the beautiful Emily. She is a Class of 2012 Senior who we had the pleasure of photographing.  Emily is one of the “quiet at first” kind of girls that we see from time to time, but had good “intel” that she was a bit of a comedian.  It didn’t take us that long to figure that out.  We had the pleasure of meeting her mother and sister, who also came along during the shoot (which we love).  I think there were a few times they ran at us wanting to see the back of the camera and what I was capturing with the off-camera lighting setups I was using.  I love seeing the excitement from everyone during a shoot.  I makes this job wonderful and exciting.

Emily wanted an urban-type shoot so we knew just the place in downtown Portland to take her senior pictures and get the look she was looking for.  The weather was perfect and we had a blast.  Here are just a handful of images from her shoot.

We laughed a lot during her session!

She has such a beautiful smile

We found these beautiful fall leaves and had to shoot there

As luck would have it, we found an artist painting a building. So we stopped.

A grungy, dirty roadway never gets old to shoot on.

Found this old garage door. Lit the background with (2) gel’d Speedlights and a softbox for the main light.

Not only a beautiful smile, but gorgeous hair as well.
