Back in May I received a phone call from my friends Jeff & Holli True telling me they had something they wanted to tell me. Holli said she was hosting a workshop in Portland and she was having it filmed by a couple up and coming hotshot videographers by the name of Heather and Eugene of 2duce2 Videography. She told me she remembered Tonya and I talking about doing a promotional video of our photography business and that she had a couple other professional photographers interested as well. 

I went to their website and loved their work.  After a couple Skype sessions and getting a good “vibe” from them (even though Eugene is a little crazy) we were totally in!   We picked our date and began the planning process of storyboarding the shoot, organizing out photoshoots so they could follow-us around and see how I photograph clients, and how Tonya takes care of everything else (which is the hardest part).

After arriving from Nashville and hanging with us at our neighborhood party with friends, the crashed at our place.  The next day was a blur and what you see in the video was our day.  As luck would have it, it was the only sunny day we had in months and our boat was loving it! 

We then decided to do a facelift to our website while our video was being put together and what you see now is the finished product of many different people we would like to thank.  From Eugene and Heather, to our friends at Showit, Holli True (for getting on my ass to finish our website and helping with the creative juices), Renee of Beautyride for her amazing makeup, our friends for “partying” with us on the video, and to Doone, Scott, and Jessi for allowing us to shoot you in the video.  We are indebted to you all.

What’s going on everybody!   Tonya and I want to first give you all a “holla” and let you know we have now landed in Las Vegas, Nevada for the annual Wedding & Portrait Photographer’s International Conference.  What is that you ask?  Good question!

It is the largest professional photographer’s conference in the world.  Last year over 15,000 professional photographer’s attended the event and there were over 300 vendors displaying their products.  There are photo-shoots hosted by different photographers, workshops from sunup to sundown, welcome receptions, print judging, banquets, awards ceremony, and anything else you can think of that relates to the business of photography.

The photography workshops are broken down in categories such as weddings, high school seniors, portraits, lighting, children, boudoir, business, lighting, post production, workflow, posing, and any other niche or area you want to learn more about.

What we have learned from attending this conference annually I cannot measure, but I can tell you it has helped me to not only be a better photographer and business man, but the friendships that are developed and maintained until the following year are unsurpassed in any other profession I’ve been associated with.

I can’t wait to see what new product lines are being introduced that our customers may want, what new tips and techniques people have come up with and are teaching others, and just the entire vibe of the event.  We will be sharing some of those experiences over the next week so I hope you enjoy it.  As always, don’t be shy and not leave comments at the bottom of this page.  We love to read them!
